Privacy Policy

MattyMode ("the App") is a toddler-safe activity app developed and published by an independent developer operating under a consulting LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This privacy policy explains how the App handles data. The short version: it doesn't collect any.
This App is designed for use by children aged 0–4 under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian. We take the privacy of children seriously and have designed the App to comply with applicable child privacy laws.
MattyMode does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any of the following from children or adults: names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, location or geolocation data, device identifiers (including Android Advertising ID), IP addresses, usage or behavioral analytics, crash reports, browsing or search history, contacts, photos (beyond local display), audio or video recordings, biometric data, or any other personal or sensitive information.
The App contains no mechanism to collect data. There are no servers, databases, APIs, cloud services, or network connections associated with the App. The App does not make any outbound network requests.
MattyMode stores the following information locally on your device only, using Android's SharedPreferences system. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party:
Your parent PIN, stored as a one-way SHA-256 cryptographic hash that cannot be reversed or decrypted. Your recovery question and answer, also stored as a one-way SHA-256 hash. Your chosen app settings, including timer duration, activity preferences, bubble speed, sound preferences, and theme selection. URI references to photos you select for the Photo Viewer — these are pointers to existing files on your device, not copies of the photos themselves.
To delete all locally stored data, go to your device's Settings, then Apps, then MattyMode, then Storage, and tap "Clear Data." Uninstalling the App also removes all stored data permanently.
If you choose to enable the Photo Viewer, the App will request permission to access photos on your device. This is the only permission the App requests. This permission is used solely to display photos that a parent or guardian has explicitly selected within the App. Photos are not copied, uploaded, transmitted, modified, or shared. The App stores only a local reference (URI) to the selected photos, and the original photos remain in their existing location on the device. Revoking photo access permission or clearing the App's data removes all photo references.
MattyMode does not access or request access to your device's camera, microphone, or location services. The App requests no permissions beyond the optional photo access described above.
MattyMode is designed for children aged 0–4 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Specifically:
We do not collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction).
The App does not allow children to input, submit, or share personal information of any kind.
The App does not allow children to communicate with other users or access the internet.
The App contains no social features, messaging, user-generated content sharing, or community features.
All settings and configuration are restricted to a parent or guardian through a PIN-protected interface.
No data is transmitted from the device, so no parental consent mechanism is needed for data collection because no data collection occurs.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with similar data protection laws:
MattyMode does not process personal data as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Since no personal data is collected, stored, or transmitted, there is no lawful basis required for processing, no data controller or processor relationship with third parties, and no cross-border data transfer.
All data described in this policy is stored exclusively on your local device and is fully within your control. You may delete it at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App.
If you have questions about your rights under GDPR or any other data protection regulation, please contact us at the email address provided below.
MattyMode uses the following open-source libraries. None of these libraries collect, transmit, or process personal data:
Lottie by Airbnb (version 6.7.1) — used for animations. Runs entirely offline with no network activity. Licensed under Apache 2.0.
Coil (version 2.6.0) — used for efficient image loading and memory management. Processes images locally on the device only. No network requests are made. Licensed under Apache 2.0.
AndroidX libraries by Google — standard Android framework components for app compatibility. No data collection functionality.
No advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, tracking SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, or social media SDKs are included in the App. The App includes no code capable of transmitting data from the device.
MattyMode does not display advertisements of any kind. No advertising networks or SDKs are integrated into the App. Children are never exposed to advertising content within the App.
MattyMode may offer optional cosmetic theme packs as in-app purchases through Google Play. These transactions are handled entirely by Google Play's billing system and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. MattyMode does not process, store, or have access to any payment information. In-app purchase prompts are located exclusively in the parent-only settings area, behind the parent PIN, and are never displayed to the child during use.
When a parent chooses to save a child's drawing, the image is saved to the device's local Pictures folder (Pictures/MattyMode). These images are stored on your device only, are fully within your control, and are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared by the App.
Although MattyMode does not collect or transmit data, we have implemented the following security measures for locally stored information: the parent PIN and recovery answer are stored using SHA-256 one-way cryptographic hashing, meaning even if raw app data were accessed, the actual PIN and answer cannot be recovered. All settings data is stored in Android's private app storage, which is sandboxed and inaccessible to other apps under normal operating conditions.
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times. No data is retained by us on any server or external system. To delete all MattyMode data, go to your device's Settings, then Apps, then MattyMode, then Storage, and tap "Clear Data." Uninstalling the App also removes all stored data. There is no data to request from us because we do not hold any.
If you contact us by email at the address below, your message is processed by our third-party email service provider. We do not use information from support emails for any purpose other than responding to your inquiry. We do not add your email address to any mailing list, marketing database, or share it with any third party. We retain support correspondence only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry.
If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We will not change our core commitment: MattyMode will never collect personal data from children or parents. If a future version of the App introduces any form of data collection, we will update this policy before the change takes effect and, where required by law, obtain appropriate consent.
Because MattyMode does not collect personal data, most data subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are not applicable. However, if you believe we hold any information about you through email correspondence, you may contact us to request its deletion. We will respond to such requests within 30 days.
